Tile Floor Under Cabinets
Went to look at a tiling job that was in the kitchen.
Tile floor under cabinets. Anyway there is currently tile there that is failing in a few spots nothing major. If you are going with a floating floor you can just butt the floor up against the cabinets under the kicker. I talked to the wife today and i think we are going to tile under the cabinets like i wanted to all along. Is is best to rip out all the cabinets and tile and then tile the entire floor.
How to seal gaps under cabinets with caulk. Screw a strip of the same thickness to the floor next to. Remove the cabinets and screw a plywood filler piece to the subfloor about inch inside the line where it will be under the cabinets. This small gap between cabinets and floor was constantly collecting crumbs and sticky spills that were so hard to clean.
Linette brown says i prefer to have tile under cabinets because many times the homeowner wants to change the cabinets or their layout. This piece should be at least 2 inches wide and about inch thicker than the total thickness of the flooring including any vapor barrier or cushion. Afterwards install the cabinets on top of the tile. For installations that go over existing flooring in kitchens where cabinets are already installed i leave a 1 4 gap for expansion and trim out around the cabinets with matching quarter round from the flooring supplier.
Thanks for the reply s guys. Or should retile just butting up to cabinets again. If there are last minute changes the tile on top makes changes or corrections a lot easier and you come out being a hero. But it don t matter what i like and in the end i will do which ever they want.
There s a good reason to do this. I have been installing laminate flooring since the product first became popular.
