Typical Floor Height Office Building
For commercial and office ones is common 4m.
Typical floor height office building. However building ceiling heights to 2 7 metres can have significant advantages in flexibility of use. The first time i designed a building with two levels the boss told me to make the floor to floor height as tight as possible because that would keep the exteior wall cost as low as possible. As per obc the bedroom height should be 2 3 m over at least 50 of the required floor area. My main recollection of the construction of that building was the constant phone calls and trips to the site to explain how to run the ducts conduits and place the lights so everything.
Buildings constructed between 1960 and 1999 55 average 16 300 square feet. The average size of buildings constructed before 1960 26 of the commercial building stock is 12 000 square feet. In recent times some are made with 3 5m in average. 2 0 x 1 85 m will be needed.
Alternatively 2 1 m over 100 of the required floor area. Residential spaces are frequently planned with a floor to ceiling height of 2 4 metres or less. Designing for higher ceiling heights throughout a development allows for maximum flexibility with respect to future use. However this minimum figure may not be sufficient if for example a large amount of the room is occupied by furniture or depending on the contents and layout of the room and the type of work being undertaken.
For lobby double height you can consider 8 or 10m. This is the base we use to estimate height in diagrams as well. According to ontario building code obc 2 3 m over at least 75 of the required floor area with a clear height of at least 2 1 m at any point over the required area. The clear ceiling height for office spaces is a minimum of 2700 mm 9 feet for spaces that are larger than 14 m2 150 square feet.
With a higher ceiling height of 3 0 m a minimum floor area of 3 7 sq. And buildings constructed in the 2000s 18 average 19 000 square feet.
