Our master of arts in teaching program is designed to prepare you for an initial north carolina teaching licensure in elementary education k 6 secondary education 6 9 and or 9 12 in english mathematics science and social studies subject areas special education k 12 general curriculum english as a second language k 12 the year long program includes coursework and a. Nc teaching fellows will receive up to 4 125 a semester in forgivable loans for a commitment to serve as a science mathematics or special education teacher in north carolina. This program is designed for students who already hold a bachelor s degree but have little to no background in education. The program offers teacher licensure in high school english mathematics science and social studies.

Course instruction is delivered online and in most concentrations is paired with face to face clinical labs that meet on unc charlotte s campus or at school sites in the area. The master of arts in teaching m a t program is designed as an interdisciplinary degree option within the teacher education program. This 15 month program prepares candidates for a career as an elementary classroom teacher with an initial license in kindergarten through 6th grade. Is intended for graduates from accredited colleges or universities with an undergraduate major in humanities sciences or social sciences who have few if any formal courses in education.
